In an effort to better serve our attendees this year, our educational programs will focus on specific areas. These areas are harm reduction, leadership/alignment to values, social justice, and office specific training for topics such as intake/recruitment, treasurer training, etc. Please submit one program proposal for each educational program you wish to offer. The deadline is Friday, November 16, 2009. (Please note: This year, educational programs will be sixty minutes in length). Website Update

NGLA will be working with Chapter Communications (part of the Celect.org network) to create the new and improved NGLA.org website!! Stay tuned over the next month for new and improved content, including an on-line registration process. Special thanks to The College of New Jersey's Dave Conner for assisting the NGLA Board with the selection process.

Welcome to the Northeast Greek Leadership Association blog!! This site will serve as our temporary home while the new and improved NGLA website is being built and update. We are eagerly looking forward to our annual convention and 10th Anniversary being held February 18th, 2010 - February 21, 2010 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. AWARDS UPDATE
Announcing the Amy Vojta Impact Award

Over the course of the history of NGLA, Amy Vojta has been a dynamic force of change for the association. In recognition of that dedication improving and impacting Greek life in the northeast, the Association announces the restructuring of the programming awards. This year we will award programs sponsored by campus, councils or individual chapters that have had a real impact on the Greek community. We will be looking at all types of programming and initiatives that cover various areas including but not limited to philanthropy, service, academics, fundraising, social consciousness and mentorship. Please look out for more information in the near future.



Below are the individual awards for 2009-10.

Greek Leaders of Distinction: The Northeast Greek Leadership Association annually recognizes several outstanding members of the Northeastern Greek community. These students are individuals who exemplify the ideals of sorority and/or fraternity membership in their daily lives. Submit no more then one nominee from each council on campus. Guenzler Outstanding Staff/Volunteer Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize staff members or volunteers of fraternity/sorority organizations whom have made significant and long term contributions to the Greek community within the Northeast region or to the Northeast Greek Leadership Association. Phillipi Outstanding Advisor Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize a Greek affairs professional, male or female, who has made significant contributions to the Greek community within the Northeast region by advising any governing council. Gamma Phi Beta Panhellenic Programming Award: Gamma Phi Beta Sorority presents annual Panhellenic Awards for successful College Panhellenic programs that promote a positive Greek image to the faculty/administration, the campus and the community. The award is a $250 grant and certificate, presented at the regional conference. Innovative, image-enhancing programs(s) developed by the College Panhellenic in which the Greek system is viewed favorably by non-Greeks may be submitted. Past award-winning entries have included an all-campus educational seminar, a community awareness appreciation series and a Greek Council lecture series.
