The Amy Vojta Impact Award

The format of the campus programming awards has been changed and we are inviting you to be part of the conversion to the new award system. This year we will be awarding only a few awards to selected campuses, councils and/or chapters and we will be naming it the Amy Vojta Impact Award. We will be seeking submissions of programming and initiatives that have had a great impact on the Greek community and or the entire school.

Submission:

Each school will have the opportunity to enter submissions for their entire campus, separate councils, and/or individual chapters about programs or initiatives that have made an impact on campus or to the Greek community as whole. Schools will be eligible for awards for submissions in the following areas:

· Academic Achievement
· Membership Recruitment
· Multicultural Initiatives and Programming
· Philanthropy and Service
· Public Relations
· Risk Reduction
· Chapter Development and Leadership

We will be asking the Greek Advisors to submit a letter of support for each submission, verifying that the program was indeed impactful to the community. At this time there is no intent to restrict the number of submissions that a campus will be able to enter.

Criteria

The impact of the program or initiative must be realized during the target period, January 1st, 2009 to December 31st 2009. The program or initiative may have been formulated and initiated just prior to that period but the submission should describe the effect that it has had during this year’s target period.
All submission MUST be accompanied by a letter of support from the Greek Advisor on campus. This letter should verify this program was indeed impactful and give an administrative point of view. It must be signed.
Submissions must be accompanied by a demographic description of the campus. Please include the number of Greek organizations on campus in total, total number of fraternities & sororities, total membership in Greek organization, all Greek, male, and female averages, and any other statistics that may be helpful in giving the judging committee a clear picture of the Greek community on the campus.
Submission should have a cover letter briefly describing the program and why it should be considered for the award.
The submission should identify what the existing challenge/issue was, the decision making process, early planning issues, implementation, feedback from affected community, plans for continuation (if any)
Please submit copies or originals of all supporting material and documentation that will give the judging panel a clearer picture of the event/initiative/program.
Please include a contact sheet with intersession information as well, in case the committee needs clarification on anything in the submission.

Who can apply?

Entire Greek Communities:
To qualify, all individual councils must have decided to address the issues collectively. Programs initiated by one chapter or council and subsequently adopted by the entire community, do not qualify as an “entire Greek Community” program or initiative.

Individual Councils:
To qualify, all individual chapters in the council must have decided to address the issues collectively. Programs initiated by one chapter and subsequently adopted by the entire council, do not qualify as an “individual council” program or initiative.

Individual Chapters:
Program will be accepted from individual chapters of organizations as long as they were the ones that initiated the program or initiative being considered. A chapter’s participation in a larger program or initiative is not eligible for submission.

How do you apply?

All applications for the Amy Vojta Award must be submitted electronically. They should be converted into a pdf format and emailed to nglaawards@gmail.com or uploaded site that will be set up in December. Please consult with your email provider and/or IT department regarding sending large files over your server. It is advisable that you test your system before the deadline. Deadlines

All submissions must be emailed by 5:00pm EST on January 22nd, 2010. Submissions after that time will not be considered for the award.
